Description
This is a rare brass Porter lantern, practically unused. It is marked on the rim “Patented February 18, 1862 & April 2, 1867”. The font may have been changed from whale oil to kerosene. It is very difficult to find a Porter in this condition. The globes were very fragile and easily cracked from the heat of the burner. This lantern has the original globe.
