Description
This Patera is from an unknown source and exhibits a quality unlike recorded examples.It represents a wine drinking vessel that was found in silver in Hildesheim. The known examples reproduced were made in England and Germany in the late 19th century.This example is probable from Germany and probably liberated during the second world war. The bowl is 8 inches in diameter and is 2 3/8 inches high. It is constructed in 3 pieces and appears to be made of pewter.
