Description
This is a premium Kurt Ostervig design table and six chairs made in rosewood. The table frame is solid rosewood and the top is rosewood veneer with solid rosewood banding. It is 47 inches in diameter by 29 inches high. There is one leaf 20 inches wide attached and concealed under the top which extends the length to 67 inches long. This leaf appears darker because it has not been exposed to the light. The six chairs are solid rosewood upholstered in black leather. They measure 20 inches wide by 18 ½ inches deep by 31 inches high and the seats are 17 inches high.
This is a mid 20th century set designed by Kurt Ostervig of Denmark and built by K P Mobler. The chairs and the table are stamped with the Ostervig/Mobler label. The set is in excellent condition showing normal use. It has a beautiful mellow patina with a striking golden honey tone. The majority of Ostervig’s furniture was constructed in oak or teak and rarely in rosewood. This set is a rare find in rosewood.
