Sterling silver water kettle, stand, and lamp by Robert Garrard II, London, England 1860. The tilting water kettle weighs 105 troy ounces total including the stand and lamp. It is fully marked on the kettle, stand, lamp, lamp cover, and wing nut. There is a rampant lion representing London sterling silver, the maker's mark is RG crowned and the date letter is E for 1860-1861. Garrard was established in 1735 in London and was inherited by Robert Garrard and his brothers in 1818. The firm was appointed goldsmiths to William IV in 1843 and was made Crown Jewelers to Queen Victoria; this royal appointment continues to this day. The crest that is engraved on the back side of the kettle represents the Taylor family of Stoke Park, Wiltshire, UK after their intermarriage with the Watson family in 1815. Sir Simon R.B. Taylor, Bart. ( 1740-1830) was a wealthy sugar planter in Jamaica and a friend of Admiral Nelson's. Garrard silver is world renowned for quality and design. The silver is in excellent condition with no dents or heavy scratches.
