Brass mounted artillery officer’s sword of the War of 1812 to 1830. The brass hilt is of the reverse “P” pattern with langets. The quillon terminates in a disc. The grips are bone carved with vertical and diagonal reeding and fluting. The 29 ¾ inch curved blade is single edged with a fuller running to the half inch ricasso. The blade is blued and gilded for the top 14 ½ inches of the blade. The decoration is military motifs, floral and one panel includes a large cannon. The brass sheath is decorated with olive branches and the American eagle perched on top of a fifteen star shield. The brass mounts show signs of the original guilting.
