Description
This sword conforms closely in construction to the “Potter” swords of the American Revolution. Refer to “Swords and Blades of the American Revolution” by George Newmann, pg 166 & 167. The sword is brass or bronze hilted with a spiral carved wooden grip with the original wire wrap. The hilt is unpolished and has a very dark patina. The blade is an American made blade, 30 ¼ inches long, and 1 3/8 inches wide. The overall length of the sword is 36 3/8 inches. The sword is heavily constructed for battle.
The sword is from the Norm Flayderman collection who kept this sword back along with others when he acquired the Medicus collection. A bill of sale from a close friend of Flayderman will be provided to the purchaser.
This is possibly the best condition Revolutionary War sword available being uncleaned and in completely original condition.
